Cooking: Dill Pancakes + Filling
by Grunt on Dec.03, 2009, under Cooking
That’s right, I cook…well, I’m learning to cook. Kinda a necessity for life…
So tonight I found a recipe for Dill Pancakes which suggested fillings.
Ingredients:
1 cup (200g) oat flour (or normal flour)
1 whole egg
1/2 (100ml) cup water
1 tablespoon olive oil
salt and pepper to taste
~1-2 tablespoons dill to taste
Prep:
Put flour, egg and water in bowl and whisk into pancake batter consitency.
Add Dill and drop of oil and whisk further.
Pour thinly onto preheated, greased frying pan (I used a 6″ base frying pan)
Flip pancake (no tricks now)
Repeat for rest of batter.
I got 3 pancakes out of this… I could have pushed it to 4 cause my first two were quite thick.
On the side, prepare what you want for filling.
I decided on:
Fresh prawns (big handful),
Sliced spring onions (2)
Diced pepper (1/2 bell pepper)
Next time I might try something with tuna mayo or other fishy product.
So many words!

During the day I’m reading David Baddiel’s – “Whatever love means” and at night, tucked up in bed I’m reading Nick Harkaway’s – “Gone away world” [Review]
These are just fantastic books. In fact, all the books I’ve been reading lately have been great. I don’t want to even write this. I’d much prefer to be reading one of them just now.
All through my life I’ve been a very casual reader. I read books in school because I had to. Of the few books I read for myself, they were simple. Easily entertaining. I never bothered with the likes of Stephen King or J.R.R Tolkien. In fact the one time I attempted to read “The Hobbit” I lost interest somewhere around the troll turning to stone (I think that was in The Hobbit)
But now, I love books. I’ve got such a backlog of books to read because evidently people have noticed my new found passion for reading and are trying to give me heaps they think I’ll enjoy. For instance, my dad gave me a duplicate he had of Christopher Brookmyre’s “A Big Boy Did it And Ran Away” which gripped me.
Now he’s got another he found which is waiting for me next time I’m up visiting. (Great news for my Mum because she loves my Dad giving away his books. Considering the ceiling is cracking slightly under the weight of bookshelves in the loft. Heh)
It was since falling in love with Neil Gaiman’s books (Anansi Boys, Neverwhere and American Gods) and having decided to join the world of Twitter and started following Gaiman that I had a nice young gentleman have a look at my website and misread one of the post titles completely. Once I realised who he was I was honoured to find he was an author too and looked into his writing. This man is Nick Harkaway and its his book I’m reading right now.
[Nick, if you read this - your book is amazing; if a little jumpy. We really jumped back in time somewhere]
So. All I need now is someone to give me a few more hours in the day so that I can spend more time reading!
Books are cool!
Sleep experiment
by Grunt on Apr.18, 2009, under Photography
My phone is capable of taking pictures every few seconds up to every 30min which somehow gave me the idea to photo myself sleeping to see how much i moved around. Don’t question creativity!
So the best way I thought of doing this was to literally TAPE my phone to the ceiling above my bed (using medical tape) and let to take a photo every 30min.

Movie – The Onion
by Grunt on Jun.09, 2008, under Funny, Movies
YEAR: 2008
GENRE: Comedy
RELEASE DATE: 3rd June 2008 (USA)
DIRECTOR: Tom Kuntz, Mike Maguire
iMDB URL: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0392878/
Plot: Satirical interpretations of world events and curious human behavior…
I downloaded rented(?) this film the other day. Thought, “hmmm might be good…”. Wasn’t fussed about watching it straight away. So Monday night, chilling, playing WoW and thought [I] might as well watch a film at same time (Dual monitors, right!
)
So I fire it up, and instantly presented with cheesey news broadcast music and various newspaper headlines spiraling onto the screen. All with humourous titles from, “World’s Largest Metaphor Hits Ice-Berg” referring to the Titanic (duh!), to a picture of a group of scientists with the title, “Female Orgasm Discovered”.
The film is based around a News programme. 90 Minutes of news reports generally taking the piss out of everything; Stereotypes, Media, Politics, Peoples hobbies and interests, and pushing political correctness to the limits without crippling the comedy.
My favourite sketch from the show, a guy goes to upgrade his PC for the “new” Bates 4000 to find out when he gets home, the Bates 5000 is just out. He returns the PC to hear on the radio the 6000 is out. Back to the store, buys 6000 when a delivery guy is taking away left over 6000′s cos the 7000′s are out. Cut to Gill Bates (CEO) office where he is talking on the phone about the Bates9000 PC and gets a visitor… a brilliant insite to how new pc’s are obsolete within days. Hehe!
Of course, if you’ve never heard of The Onion before now (Like me) have a look at this promo video:
Steak of steaks

OMFGWTFBBQ!!!! *insert slavering noises here*
The time we went alone, and did not know of this wonderfulness, I chose only to have a 10oz steak because I had eaten well the night before and throughout the day, so my stomach was not ready for 24oz.
However, it was at that point that I decided we’d invite my bro and family along too.
So there we are,in the restaurant. Table was pre-booked, just to make sure. Pint of their heavy for me and my bro (Can’t remember whats its called) and the girls had orange and lemonade. And my niece had juice with her.
This time, I had prepared my stomach for the joys I was about to receive…

Bakoo = Shit. The weekend, games and music
by Grunt on Jan.13, 2008, under Games, Music, Real Life
The music – if you can call it – that is absolutely pants! Its the usualy chart, thump thump music that the so called “DJ” destroys even more but attempting to “mix”. e.g. Phase shift, slow down and whatever default effects are programmed into the cheap ass desk he/she/it has.
Other than that, I actually had a good time. I was dancing alot (alcohol induced) and my “date” and I enjoyed the daggers we were getting from an old friend. t’was funny! But we left in the end because there is only so much childish behavior one can take.
Well, that was my weekend reaslly. Didn’t actually think it was that bad tbh.
Sunday, I’ll spend taking out my frustration on whichever computer game I can be arsed playing knowing I can pwn ass against bots/online – whilst listening to:
Reel Big Fish – Suckers
and
Weezer – Only In Dreams
Thank you, and good night!
