Krimbo Slice
by Grunt on Dec.02, 2009, under Funny, Work
-and its Xmas time and we’re putting up Xmas decorations in the office including our Xmas tree. However, our sad little tree does not have an angel.
So someone suggested we put Kimbo Slice on top, which led to someone else suggesting make it xmassy, which led my TL to suggest I use my photoshop skills to make it so…
And I did!
Also made a whiter variation which, as there is alot more editing, looks worse.

Flume Games
by Grunt on Nov.01, 2009, under Work
So, needless to say, the lifeguards up at the top of the flumes were very bored. More so than usual!
And we were too on 1/11/2009 – So we continued the genius work.
This is the result:
These were all created with cut flume tickets and stuck to the wall with water. Good times!
Work sucks
by Grunt on Jan.19, 2009, under Real Life
Wake up, drag myself to the shower. Actually wake up in there because i have to move. Dry off and get dressed. Make coffee. Read emails, check various sites which are blocked at work (Whilst drinking coffee) Put shoes on and cycle to work.
The next 7.5 hours are shite!
Between the times where I get to wander through to the coffee machine and maybe speak to people and chat about rubbish, I have to work.
This includes dealing with problems that are so tediously boring that i’d rather bang my head off the wall – to problems which are so stupidly difficult to fix that i’d rather bang my head off a wall harder.
During this time, i’m getting paid absolutely bollocks. Somewhere around £13.5K a year… for a second line desktop technician!
Lets put that into perspective…
A Job agency in Aberdeen (100 miles away from Inverness) is advertising a job as “IT Support/Helpdesk Analyst”
The job Description:
As an IT Support / Helpdesk Analyst you will be involved in providing daily IT 1st / 2nd Line helpdesk support for around 2000 users operating on 150 Vessels. Daily duties will include:
* Providing telephone technical support to users in all areas of 1st and some 2nd line support.
* Helpdesk case logging, escalation and resolution.
* Providing support to the IT team for various projects.
Currently, my position is provide 2nd line support for over 8000 PCs, and probably somewhere around 12000 Users.
Here’s the stinger though…
Salary: 22 – 25K
How the fuck can my current employer get away with these slave labor wages when there are jobs out there where there is less work but more fucking money!?
Where is the justice!
Needless to say, I’ve applied and submitted my CV and hope to hear good things back.
Actually, sent my CV to a few places because I’m really wasting my time here and need to get the fuck out!
I’m fed up of Inverness and its population of narrow minded fools, whiny bitches and fucktard neds.
Fate and weekend to Aberdeen
by Grunt on Nov.13, 2008, under Real Life
Which means, I was supposed to meet my ex and we were supposed to have fun and stuff, but a full relationship was not meant to be. So I just need to wait for someone else who will fall in love with me and I with them. Someone who will give me everything I deserve from a relationship and life itself. I don’t know… maybe she’ll be so perfect for me that we’ll fall in love and everything will be so right that we run away together and start a whole new fresh life together free from all the troubles of our past….. Or maybe its just a pipe dream.
Oh well.
So tomorrow morning I’ll be packing my shit and hopping on a train to Aberdeen. I think I’ll be staying with my ex-ex. Don’t worry, it’s cool between us now. Its been over a year and we’ve forgiven each other for the shitty break up and I even understand her reasons for splitting up with me now. Its taken a while but it makes sense. I know now what its like to love someone but not be *in love* with them. So i fully respect all we’ve been through and its the past.
Anyway, the reason I’m going down to Aberdeen is because,
1) I fucking miss the place. Aberdeen is so awesome. Its not too big and scary, but it’s also not too small. The lifestyle there is so varied, you’re not forced into some backwards way of life. Much unlike Inverness where everyone seems so narrow minded and just fucking Highlander-ish. This is the 21st century… Shops don’t close on Sundays because of Jeezuz! Assholes.
2) Shopping. Xmas is coming and there’s only so much you can buy online. Some stuff you just need to browse the shop for look at the merch for real.
3) Holidays to take. I got days off to use before 31st Dec and I need time away from the shithole i work in.
4) Catch up. I miss my friends and I wanna see them again. Grab a coffee, have a pint or two. Ya know!?
So I think now its best I get to sleep cos I’m getting up early to pack stuff since I decided to chat with my friend for most of the evening instead of doing what I should have been doing.
Ah well…Shit happens. Train isn’t till 10:44 so I got plenty time in the morning.

Make your own Domo Kun
by Grunt on Oct.02, 2008, under Geek, Work
I was bored at work (suprise!) and was searching for a 4Chan branded wallpaper which i seen the other night and wanted for my work PC (its cool)
And somehow came across this beauty!
Unfortunately, my work doesn’t do colour printers. So I have a black and white Domo sitting nicely on my monitor shaking his angry fist at all the assholes i have to deal with.
He’s my little buddy

by Grunt on Jul.15, 2008, under Site
[Edit] Originally a page made for one person, but he’s cried so much, I’m changing it to a mass targeted exhibition. [/edit]
Although it says daily, it really depends how much time I have at work.
And as these are created at work, I only have access to basic tools to create these. Hence why they look badly photoshopped… well, to be correct, Gimped!
I have a portable version of The Gimp (GNU Image Manipulation Program) which I’m not very accustomed to using. But there would be many questions asked if I had a portable copy of Photoshop that I put on USB Pen or the work PC’s…
So, enjoy… Mockups!
Cat Sitting
by Grunt on Jun.30, 2008, under Real Life
NB: My birthday was on 31st May!
They had given it to my brother in April so they i’d get it in time…but noooo! The ass had it sitting in his hallway for him to take to mine when he got the chance. And plenty chance he had too. He’s just so frikken unorganised socially to take it round to mine.
Nevermind, I got it at least – And its frikken awesome!!!
Its a big set of Magnastix or Magnetix or whatever you wanna call it. Basically its rods and balls that stick together with magnets and you can make whatever the hell you want. I appear to be quite interested in organic shapes.
Its quite a desk toy. I sit and play with it on breaks at work. No funny looks yet
ADDITIONAL: My bestest present from my lovely was a personalised leather wallet. I take it everywhere with me, even though there’s nothing but moths in it! lol
Other news, my lovely has left me for a week. On Sunday she took off to Englanshire to stay with a friend (also ex-colleague) whilst she took on a weeks intensive driving course.
May I just say here, BEST OF LUCK BABY!
But I miss her heaps. I’ve temporarily moved into her flat to look after her kittens when shes gone.
I have to get up at stupid o’clock to feed them. Then i climb back into bed for another hour and a bit till i get up, have a shower and get cleaned up for work. And tonight I’ll be taking my bike up so i get to lie in longer as getting to work will be quicker (All down hill. W00t!)
Its going to be a difficult week, but I’d do anything for her. She’s my lovely!
I also just spent £80 on food last night. Which should last me a fair wee while, as long as her bro doesn’t eat any of it. Its MINE! GRRRR hehe
Other than that… working and gyming away. Gym is going well. Think i’ve managed to get a bit more definition to my stomach and arms and chest. My belly aint quite as rounded…but still fatty! I’ll get there tho.
Work update: Updated
by Grunt on Feb.27, 2008, under Real Life, Tech, Work
A few weeks ago, one of my managers came up to me asking if I had applied for any of the Job Spots that had been sent out.The ones she was implying were the MPS Tier 1.5 job and the Tier 2 job.
Let me explain:
Tier 1 (Current position) - Sit at PC, answer phones (force fed calls.. it beeps, we start talking), Tell user to plug keyboard back in. User cant do that. Assign call to desktop support team who earn twice what we do, who physically go to the users desk and plug keyboard in for them. Get paid piss all…
Tier 1.5 – Sit at PC, dont have to answer calls, try and fix various problems Tier 1 are too stupid to fix themselves because they don’t follow the knowledge base solutions. Main one being “Fix – Use common sense” and get paid a little bit more.
Tier 2 – Sit at PC, dont have to answer calls, Try fix things Tier 1.5 can’t do because they havn’t had the training or permissions on the network to fix. Techically be a sub-admin of network. Able to fix most problems remotely. Get paid more. More eligable to be put on training courses like MCSE as its worth while for the company.
Now, the Tier 1.5 position would be good for me because of who the client is and the size of the service desk. This would look excellent on my CV and I would also then have the chance to move up to Tier 2 for that desk, in time.
However, the Tier 2 position would be for a possibly smaller desk. But the fact I’d be jumping up 2 positions looks really good. And i’d be on a desk that maybe is not too busy, which would allow me to sit at work and learn stuff and study for as many exams I can get my hands on to get my MCSE. Woop!
So at the moment, I have several members of middle management fighting over me to see which desk I go to. Its gonna be interesting to see how it pans out. I dunno which i’d prefer to be honest, but all I know is that the T1.5 job will mean I don’t get access to email people around work…
—Update—
I was approached yesterday by my Ops Manager who took me aside and flat out asked which job I wanted to take. I’m guessing the powers that be couldn’t make up their minds or something. But I guess it is ultimately my decision.
I don’t know. As said above, they both have their pro’s. However, I’ve spoken to to Team Leader of the Tier 2 team and voice my acceptance of the position. I believe in the end I will learn more on Tier 2 – PLUS I’ll still have email access to my friends. Woop woop!
Its actually quite a hard decision to make. I’ve never been in a position where I’ve had the choice of two jobs, both of which would benefit me. So hopefully i’ll be a Tier 2 monkey soon
